How Container Delivery Works
Every delivery follows the same five checkpoints, whether you're placing a single storage container behind a house or coordinating a multi-unit drop for a job site.
Order Confirmed
You choose your container and delivery address. We confirm size, condition grade, and access details with you directly.
Site Review
We review ground conditions, overhead clearance, and approach width to assign the right truck for your site.
Delivery Scheduled
You get a confirmed delivery date and a call from the driver roughly 30β60 minutes before arrival.
Transport
Your container travels by tilt-bed or roll-off trailer, secured and inspected before it ever leaves the lot.
Placement
The driver sets the container level and in position on your site. You walk the unit before the driver leaves.
The Right Truck for the Site
Not every driveway, lot, or job site is the same. We match the delivery method to your access and ground conditions before the truck ever leaves our yard.
Tilt-Bed Delivery
The trailer bed tilts and the container slides off under its own weight β no crane needed. Best for flat, open sites with a straight approach.
Roll-Off / Cable Delivery
A hydraulic cable system pulls the container off the truck bed and can help set it more precisely on uneven or sloped ground.
Crane Placement
For rooftop, backyard, or restricted-access sites where a truck can't maneuver, we coordinate crane placement through our partner network.
What Your Site Needs
Most residential and commercial deliveries go smoothly with a bit of prep. Here's what our drivers check for before scheduling day-of delivery.
Delivery Site Checklist
- β A straight, level approach at least 60 ft long for a 20 ft container (longer for 40 ft units)
- β Minimum 12 ft of overhead clearance along the delivery path
- β Firm, stable ground β gravel, compacted stone, or concrete works best
- β No low-hanging branches, wires, or fences blocking the approach
- β Someone on-site (or reachable) to confirm final placement
Not Sure Your Site Qualifies?
Send us a few photos of your delivery location and our team will tell you exactly what equipment your site needs β before you order.
βοΈ Email Site PhotosWhat Affects Delivery Cost
Delivery pricing is quoted per job based on distance, container size, and site access. Here's what typically moves the number up or down.
| Factor | Lower Cost | Higher Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Distance from our NYC hub | Local Tri-State delivery | Out-of-region / multi-state freight |
| Container size | 20 ft standard | 40 ft or high cube units |
| Site access | Flat, open, straight approach | Tight urban lots, slopes, or rooftop access requiring a crane |
| Scheduling | Standard delivery window | Rush / next-day delivery |

What Customers Say About Delivery
Real feedback from customers who had a container delivered by Box Hub. (Sample copy shown below β replace with your actual Trustpilot or Google reviews before publishing.)
The driver called ahead, walked the site with me before setting it down, and had the container placed exactly where we needed it for the job trailer.
Our driveway is narrow and on a slope. Box Hub asked for photos ahead of time and sent a truck that could actually handle it. No surprises on delivery day.
We ordered three containers for a storage yard expansion. All three arrived on the dates we were quoted and were set exactly where we marked.
Delivery Questions, Answered
How much does shipping container delivery cost?
Delivery cost depends on distance from our New York hub, container size, and site access. We quote delivery separately from the container price so you know the full cost before you order β request a quote for an exact number.
How much space do I need for delivery?
As a general rule, plan for a straight, level approach of at least 60 feet for a 20 ft container and more for a 40 ft unit, with 12 feet of overhead clearance. Tighter sites may still work with roll-off or crane delivery β send us photos and we'll confirm.
Do you deliver outside of New York?
Yes. We deliver directly across the NYC metro and Tri-State area, and coordinate nationwide delivery through our vetted carrier network for locations further out.
Can you place the container exactly where I want it?
In most cases, yes. Our drivers work with you on-site to set the container in the position you need, ground conditions permitting. For rooftop or restricted-access sites, we coordinate crane placement in advance.
How long does delivery take after I order?
Local Tri-State deliveries are often available within the same week, depending on inventory and route scheduling. Out-of-region deliveries depend on carrier availability β we'll confirm a firm date when you order.
What if my site isn't accessible for a standard delivery truck?
Send us a few photos or a short video of the approach. We'll tell you whether tilt-bed, roll-off, or crane placement is the right fit before your delivery is scheduled β not on the day the truck shows up.
Do you offer container pickup or relocation later?
Yes, we can coordinate pickup or relocation of a container after delivery. Contact our team with your address and container details for a relocation quote.
Is delivery included in the container price?
Delivery is quoted separately from the container so pricing stays transparent. You'll see the delivery cost broken out before you complete your order.
